I am a resident of Bloomsburg which makes me a constituent of U.S. Congressman Dan Meuser. I am also a writer/editor for Greenfire Coalition Writers’Forum. The Greenfire webpage is written opinions on a wide variety of topics, one of which is government/politics. It has approximately 7,000 readers.

I have tried several times (3) to contact the Congressman but I have been unsuccessful. Messages were left on all calls but no response was received from Meuser’s office. No return phone calls, no text messages and no letters have been received. Silence! The purpose of my reaching out was/is to arrange an interview. It doesn’t look promising.

Obviously, he is failing me as a constituent. I am not surprised because he is truly an invisible man. He is rarely seen in public and only at events where he will not be challenged. He did attend a meeting of community leaders at Bloomsburg University but the commoners were excluded. He did pump gas in Sugarloaf Township as a publicity stunt. He has held a few phone town halls that were a joke. He has been on a few safe radio programs where softball questions were lobbed to him.

He has held no town meetings where questions can be freely asked. He is not walking the streets of his gerrymandered district freely mingling with constituents. No, he is nowhere of any consequence to his constituents.

I know something about this as my father, Louis Sauers, was an administrative assistant to Congressmen George Rhodes and Gus Yatron for almost thirty years. Both were Democrats from the 6th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. They were always out in the public, answering questions and mingling with their constituents no matter who they were.

Maybe the Congressman will read this letter and give me a call. I’m not holding my breath. With all that is going on in our federal government it is difficult to be ignored. He is my representative but I can’t get a conversation with him nor can many other folks who have been/are trying.

Mr. Meuser, hold several town hall meetings throughout your district. Give your constituents an opportunity to ask questions and state opinions. If you want to be Governor, sooner or later you will have to leave your safe district and face the music.

Can we schedule that interview now?
