Governor Shapiro and Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Stacy Garrity should read the Compendium of Scientific, Medical, and Media Findings Demonstrating Risks & Harms of Fracking and Associated Gas & Oil Infrastructure, Ninth Edition published 10-19-23 with two updates, the last one on 9-1-26. The Compendium is a fully referenced meta-analysis that is predominantly built on peer-reviewed science that began in 2014 by Concerned Health Professionals of New York and Physicians for Social Responsibility. Shapiro and Garrity are in favor of fracking and data centers which will be energized with natural gas, a highly polluting form of energy. From beginning to end it is a climate changing form of energy that is highly reliant on government financial assistance. There is nothing clean about it. You may recall that Governor Shapiro entered into a voluntary partnership with CNX Resources Corporation back in 2023. Please note that CNX has compiled more than one thousand environmental violations since it began operating and that Governor Shapiro sidelined or downplayed studies from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the University of Pittsburg linking exposure from fracking to asthma and lymphoma. I suggest that everyone read the Compendium and the studies.
Also, on the Governor’s and Candidate Garrity’s nightstands should be any one of dozens of health studies associating dairy products with an increased risk of developing prostrate, breast, and ovarian cancers. September was Prostrate Cancer Awareness Month. These products are a major source of saturated fats in the American diet, contributing to heart disease, type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. The Governor just announced almost 200 million dollars of taxpayer money going to dairy manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania. Minimal research is required and I suggest that everyone read the studies.
One final note, whether you use conservative analysis from organizations such as Commonwealth Foundation or left leaning organizations such as Penn Future you will see eye-popping estimates of billions of taxpayer dollars going to entities that are wildly profitable and quite capable of financing projects/expansions/growth on their own dime. You know, like real capitalists!
