ESA Update-The Endangered Species Act, signed into law by President Richard Nixon in 1973, is one of the most significant and influential environmental laws. It is the result of devastating damage done by hunting, industrial development and deforestation, all of which are capable of wiping out entire species. Many attempts have been made to weaken the ESA and, while most failed, some were successful. Persistent vigilance is necessary because the forces of consumptive wildlife use, deforestation, pollution and industrial development continue unabated. Research this. Make it an issue!
