The wealthy can afford everything. The well-off have great purchasing power also. They make up a very small percentage of the U.S. population (1-5%) but they, through their suits (lawyers, accountants, representatives in government, etc.), exert enormous influence and control over the remaining 95-99%.
They are arrogant. They are greedy. They don’t care. The following is what they ignore and avoid. For the sake of your grandchildren, children and yourself you should pay attention.
85% of Americans want higher taxes on the grossly undertaxed and giant global corporations.
84% of Americans want Medicare to cover dental, vision and hearing.
77% of Americans want to expand social security benefits which have been frozen for the past 45 years.
70% of Americans want a $17 per hour federal minimum wage which has been frozen at $7.25 per hour since 2009.
63% of Americans want Medicare for ALL.
75% of Americans want a cap on rent increases.
77% of Americans want a crackdown on corporate crime.
Polls over time show strong support for organizing and joining unions, strong regulatory controls on water and air pollution, paid family sick leave, child care, maternal care and elder care.
Majoritarian support also exists for extension of the Child Tax Credit, fully funded public schools, ending/cutting back corporate welfare, cutting the defense budget, etc.
There is much more. Do your research. Make it an issue.
