Happy Holidays!

2024 was an interesting year especially for Boomers. We are not strangers to crooked politicians, wars, underfunded priorities and a world on fire! All of us are learning how to deal with accelerating technology and its effects on, well, everything. If you talk about a brave new world, it is knocking on your door. Artificial intelligence is seeping into every aspect of our lives. For good or bad we had better be alert. Crypto/Bitcoin is another slippery slope that most people can’t even explain. Autocracy is on the rise. Ruling elites are scheming. The decades long underfunding of public education is showing itself big time. Most people don’t realize the fodder they have become.

The system hates boomers. As a group we are tenacious fighters. We grew up learning how to think without technology. We are not bumbling fools totally dependent and addicted to something or someone telling us how to think. I think we are the greatest generation for many obvious reasons. Unfortunately, we will die off. Our descendants will be irreversibly anchored to technology.

With the above as a pretext, the writers for Greenfire Coalition Writers’ Forum offer the following booklist as a life jacket to young and old.

Earth in Upheaval Immanuel Velikovsky, 1955

The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity Cipolla, 2011

Sapiens Harari, 2015

The 1619 Project Jones, 2021

The American Hunting Myth Baker, 1985

The United States of War Vine, 2020

JFK And The Unspeakable Douglass, 2008

Quiet Cain, 2012

The Holocaust Industry Finkelstein, 2000

The Jungle Sinclair, 1936

The Secret Team Prouty, 1973

Tales From The Ant World Wilson, 2020

Animal Envy Nader, 2016

Diet For A New America Robbins, 1987

Empire of the Summer Moon Gwynne, 2010

So, this is a good start. All readable. More to come.

Thanks
