Curiosity helps as does inquisitiveness. Intellectual restlessness and the “need to know” are ingredients in the mix. However, education (great teachers, small class sizes, liberal curriculum, debate, community support, application opportunities) is the glue and fuel that feeds intellectual growth, understanding and usefulness.
Frankly, sapiens are not prone to the above. They simply are not. Our species has been/is easily distracted by religion, sex, sports, foods, consumption and gadgets. Carefully marketed to us by slavishly addicted, insecure capitalists/technocrats and control freaks who need masses of conformist, obedient, easily led workers and consumers.
The burden of civilizations progressing falls on the few. Those who see through the charade, swim against the current and force themselves into the fight. They get a hard time from the nervous perpetrators and the mooks who take on the appearance of sheeples.
So, back to research. The vast majority of people are fed a constant diet of misinformation (consensus trance) through high priests of the above distractions. The 10% or so of folks who don’t buy the foolishness get busy doing research. Basically, that means they read. Reading and its closely associated skills of comprehension, debate and application come to the fore. Hooray!
Israel and Palestine have a convoluted history. Begin with the zionist movement. Carefully move through the atrocities conducted by Israel and Palestine with the aid of Europe, United States and Arab countries to encourage this RELIGIOUS/LAND conflict. Read about Susya, Hebron, Baruch Goldstien, illegal settlements, Meir Kahane, AIPAC, Shatilla, Sabra, Ariel Sharon, Deir Yassin, Haredim, Camp David Accords, suicide bombers, Hamas shelling, Yasser Arafat, Gaza, genocide, West Bank, international criminal law, Menachem Begin, semitic languages/peoples, and double citizenship for beginners. There is much more and it is repulsive. The current situation threatens the world.
Now, bring in Iran, CIA and M16. I like to start around 1950-1953 but their is a rich history of attempted manipulation, aggression, and violence against Iran by the US and Europe. Iran, the Persians, have kept their heads above water for thousands of years. There are now approximately 100 million people living in Iran and they are tough and educated.
In 1953, Britain’s M16 partnered with the U.S. CIA to overthrow the duly elected government of Iran. The Iranian’s had nationalized their oil industry in 1951. Their elected leader, Mohammad Mosaddegh, was imprisoned until his death and the Iranian people, with the approval of Great Britain and the United States, came under the rule of the ruthless Shah of Iran. The Shah, using his secret police, SAVAK, put his boot on the throats of the Iranian people until, in the 1970’s, they rebelled. As we know, they took over the American Embassy and threw the U.S. out of Iran. Unfortunately, the Butcher of Iran was replaced by the military and religious hardliners we see today.
THAT’S RIGHT! WE helped create the monster government in Iran and they hate us. They hate us for the coup in 1953 and and the subsequent suffering under the Shah. They hate us for giving chemical weapons components to Iraq to use against them, which Saddam Hussein did. You reap what you sow. There is a great picture of Donald Rumsfeld, U.S. Secretary of Defense under George Bush (the elder), sitting, shaking hands and smiling with Saddam Hussein when he was our “friend”.
Almost all politicians/news outlets/corporate media ignore the U.S./Iran history prior to the 1970’s because the U.S. and Britain screwed up so badly. It is a cover-up.
Curious? You should be! Research! Enjoy!
